Upper township is the large community only a few miles from the Ocean City beaches with a population just over 12,000. New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Upper Township as its 2nd best place to live in its 2008 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in New Jersey. Just an easy drive to Ocean Ctiy beaches, Atlantic City Casinos and an hour commute to Philadelphia the township offers convenience and the small town feel that the residents love.
Covering just over 68 square miles stretching from beachfront to river front land in communities that include: Strathmere, Marmora, Beesley's Point, Palermo, Seaville, Petersburg, Greenfield, Tuckahoe, Marshallville, and Steelmantown.
With its beaches in the Strathmere section, Upper Township is one of five municipalities in the state that offer free public access to oceanfront beaches monitored by lifeguards, joining only Atlantic City, North Wildwood, Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. If the beaches do not draw you in then the Nature lovers will enjoy all that Bellplain State Park has to offer with much of its forest lies in Upper Townships boundaries.
